Description  300 samples (Environmental swabs) were collected from different sites of the restroom (the ladies) in the dormitory with AL-Qadisiya university for period: September (2007) –september (2008). In this study we got 560 isolates of various aerobic microorganisms, tot al bacterial isolates were (459), (%82) while total Molds and Yeasts isolates were (150) , (%33). The bacterial isolates included: 309 isolates (%67) were gram negative bacteria while 150 isolates (%33) were gram positive bacteria. Enterobacteriaceae was the most common gram negative bacteria (%79) and the Enterococci was the most common gram positive bacteria (%67). We have a clear difference in the percentage of microbial contamination among the sites. The floor and air samples showed the highest growth percentage (%100) with highest count of isolates (162) and (129), while the kitchen sink samples have the lowest growth percentage (%82) with lowest count of isolates (75). On the other hand, certain tests were performed on Dettol and Sodium hypochlorites solutions with concentrations (10 , 25 , 50) mg/m. Sodium hypochlorites had the highest proinhibition effect on all the microorganisms, Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the most sensitivity to it while Staphylococcus aureus was the least sensitivity.

  • Study effect with some factors and plant extracts on Candida albicans that isolated from Vagina .

Description  100 samples ( vaginal swabs ) were collected from vaginitis patients in Al – Hilla city for period ( July – November , 2006 ) . Candida albicans was identified as amain cause of candidiasis . It has the highest incidence % 67.7 in vaginal swab specimens . The percentage of C.albicans isolates affected with pregnancy , Oral contraceptives and Antibiotic therapy . Yeast sensitivity was tested toward Nystatine with concentrations ( 10 , 100 , 1000 µg / ml ) the concentration ( 1000 µg / ml ) has the biggest inhibition zone . We have studied the effect of sodium bicarbonate of C.albicans with concentrations ( 5 % , 10 % , 15 % ) . 5 % was the most effective . The Ethanol ( 95 % ) extracts of three plants : Allium sativum ; Myrtus communis & pimpinella anisum L . have avariable effects against C.albicans growth . Allium sativum has highly effective .

  • Study of etiologic multi-drug resistant bacteria of neonatal sepsis in Al-Hilla city

    25/03/2018 19:26:26
Author  أستاذ مساعد الدكتوره أمل طالب عطية السعدي  Views and Downloads  242
Description  131-blood samples were collected from neonates who were admitted to the preterm units and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Babylon Hospital for Pediatric and Gynecology. Samples were cultured on many different media, 90(68.7%) of blood samples with positive culture. Among 96 bacterial isolates isolated from these cultures, 40(41.7%) gram negative bacteria versus 56(58.3%) gram positive bacteria. The most frequently isolated bacteria were 13(32.5%) Klebsiella pneumoniae and 11(27.5%) pseudomonas aeruginosa among gram negative. while among gram positive staphylococci have highest rate of isolation 39(69.6%) which included 16(41%) coagulase positive staphylococci and 23(59%) coagulase negative staphylococci (CoNS). Antibiotic susceptibility test performed by disc diffusion test for 28 antibiotics, most isolates have fully resistance to penicillins and cephalosporins. While fully sensitivity was shown in each imipenem and meropenem for both gram negative and gram positive bacteria

  •  MOLECULAR DETECTION OF MULTI-DRUG RESISTANT P. AERUGINOSA ISOLATED FROM NEONATAL INFECTIONS

    25/03/2018 19:18:46
Author  أستاذ مساعد الدكتوره أمل طالب عطية السعدي  Views and Downloads  219
Description  Throughout this study, multi-drug resistant P. aeruginosa was isolated from neonatal infections in order to detect the genes being responsible of antibiotic resistanc e in these bacteria by molecular technique (PCR).

  • Genetic Study of Methicillin Resistant S. aureus (MRSA)Isolated from Neonatal Infections

    25/03/2018 19:12:34
Author  أستاذ مساعد الدكتوره أمل طالب عطية السعدي  Views and Downloads  251
Description  This study aimed to detect of methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA) which caused neonatal infections and to detect the genes being responsible of antibiotic re sistance in these bacteria by molecular technique ( PCR)
