• A wide knowledge of shunt and series compensation techniques employed in power transmission systems using various flexible AC transmissions systems (FACTS) for controlling power transmission capacity and voltages and currents in the power grid.
• Developing a power factor correction technique with control algorithm using a specific FACTs controller integrated with a three-phase rectifier in a variable-voltage variable-frequency operating system.
• An understanding of more electric aircraft (MEA) electrical and distribution systems, including the associated challenges such as harmonics level limitations and certain problems regarding conventional power factor correction circuit topologies, including harmonics levels and stability.
• Software development and programming using the C++ language for Texas Instruments TMS320F28335 DSP in order to generate customized pulses and drive semiconductor switches such as IGBTs, by developing an algorithm to implement and debug a control scheme in the DSP controller using Code Composer Studio version 5.3 (CCS 5.3) from Texas Instruments.
• In-depth understanding of Texas Instruments TMS320F28335 DSP peripherals and registers.
• Modelling and simulating systems using various software packages.
